Introduction - This is a project which aims to establish a national framework to assist schools in developing effective family /school partnerships. The framework is being developed through a process of forums and consultation and is now ready for public consultation and feed back.
The project is a joint initiative of:
The Australian Parents Council (APC)
The Australian Council of State School Organisations (ACSSO) and
The Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) , in collaboration with other key stakeholders throughout education and the community.
You are invited to access the draft framework and to provide feed back by answering the response form about the framework. Your comments will be significant in the further development of this important document.
Early next year after time has been allowed for public consultation on the framework, a further forum of stakeholders will be held and national endorsement of the framework sought through the Ministerial Council on Education, Employment Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA).
The project is grounded in the research about the importance of both families and schools in the development of young people, and the findings that effective schools have high levels of parental and community involvement. This level of involvement is strongly related to improved student learning, engagement and behaviour.
