Political leaders acknowledge APC's 50th Anniversary
From 24 to 26 August in Sydney the Australian Parents Council (APC) celebrated the 50th Anniversary of its representation of parents of students attending Catholic and Independent schools. Federal Minister for School Education, Peter Garrett, and Parliamentary Secretary for School Education, Senator Jacinta Collins, acknowledged APC's contribution to schooling in Australia in their speeches to the conference. Leader of the Opposition, Tony Abbott, offered his congratulations in a letter read to the conference by Senator Brett Mason. Over 120 people attended a celebratory cocktail party on the evening of Friday 24 August at Loreto Kirribilli that jointly marked the 50th Anniversary of the New South Wales Parents Council.
