As the national peak body, the Australian Parents Council supports families in independent schools to succeed in accessing quality educational outcomes for their children.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

APC aims to provide information, education and training, and other services for Members and interested persons, relating to children’s learning, education and wellbeing.

This includes:

  • To provide high-level advice to the Australian Government across a broad spectrum of issues where parents are key stakeholders in schooling.
  • To scope, implement, evaluate and report on research projects that capture parental perspectives on a range of critical schooling and other issues that affect the academic and social outcomes of school students, and their wellbeing and that of their families.
  • To support and represent the views of parents, families and carers in the non-government schooling sector and from priority populations.
  • To strengthen linkages and develop strategic partnerships with other key organisations that have the potential to positively contribute to APC’s performance across its representation, advocacy, research and project activities.
Everybody is welcome to join APC, to become a contributor to our community with involvement or interest in activities related to APC’s objectives. One can join APC either as an Associate Member, an Ordinary Individual Member, an Ordinary Organisation Member, or as a Life Member.
Regardless of what level of membership you have, you will have the right to attend all general meetings of APC. Depending on the level of membership, you may have the right to vote at all general meetings. There may also be other rights and privileges relating to each membership category.
Your passion for the wellbeing, education and future of children is what truly matters. You don’t have to have children of your own to make a meaningful impact in our association. Many of our members include dedicated educators, government staff, and other professionals who care deeply about these important issues. Everyone who shares this commitment is welcome and valued.
Currently, Australian Parents Council are advocating for a range of issues, including our top 5 focus areas: school avoidance, mental health and wellbeing, vaping, social media and its impact on families, and a sharp increase in school fees.
